A coup is emerging among the Democrats…
Normally completely united in an “honor among thieves” manner, the Democrats are finally showing major signs of cracks in their unity, with Cory Booker and Ro Khanna leading to the ouster of Chuck Schumer and sending him into retirement!

Chuck Schumer’s generation, Nancy Pelosi’s generation, John Lewis’ generation, they have a lot to be proud of. However, now the time has come for new leadership. Other generations, X, Millennials, Z, now is the time for us to step up.
The stage awaits our leadership. We have dynamic, young, new leaders.
Who are some of the top names? Chris Murphy is a top leader. Cory Booker is a dynamic leader. Brian Schatz is a dynamic leader. I mean, Elizabeth Warren is someone whose ideology I admire.
There’s a lot of great talent out there and really, does Chuck Schumer – when you think about it, just from a common sense test – do you think that Democrats across the country think that Chuck Schumer should be the future face of the Democratic Party? no way.
We need to be more independent and truth-telling and bolder in this country, not fixated on niceties.
Here’s Ro Khanna on X demanding his immediate removal:

During this time, politico Says Schumer doesn’t plan to go anywhere, intends to “weather the storm”:
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has become the target of liberals’ anger for the second time this year. His Democratic colleagues are not joining the pile.
The New York Democrat is facing calls from a coalition of progressive outside groups, House Democrats and even some Senate hopefuls to resign her leadership post after the chamber approved a bipartisan shutdown agreement she didn’t even vote for.
It’s a U-turn from March, when he took charge of helping push a GOP-authored government funding stopgap, drawing weeks of sharp criticism and calls from Democrats outside the Senate to oust him. This time, Schumer joined with most of the caucus in criticizing the deal for not meeting Democrats’ top demand — extending the Affordable Care Act’s expiring subsidies.
Outside the Senate, that’s another point for Schumer’s critics, who believe he should have done more to prevent eight Democratic caucus members from defecting. Inside the Senate, views are more nuanced.
“Chuck didn’t want that to happen. And I sat in the room with him as he tried to keep it from happening. This should be a caucus-wide conversation,” said Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a fierce critic of the deal. “Because if there are actually 10 or 15 members who will routinely turn over in this manner, it is difficult for any leader to stop that from happening.”
The liberal response comes as Schumer, 74, faces big questions about his long-term political future. The progressive is dreaming of a 2028 primary challenge, and he has repeatedly declined to say whether he will run for a sixth Senate term.
Instead, Schumer insists his focus is on the 2026 midterm elections — and his chance to once again become majority leader.
While many Senate Democrats expressed disappointment at the outcome of the shutdown fight, there is no desire to immediately remove Schumer, according to five people who remained anonymous to discuss internal caucus dynamics.
Schumer is not up for re-election as leader until after the 2026 midterms, so he is expected to try to force a referendum on Trump and health care. He indicated earlier this year that he intended to run for the position again. So far, no one is prepared to challenge him nor is there consensus on who, if anyone, could – although there is no real incentive for a challenger to emerge more than a year ago.
“You can argue and I can make the case that Chuck Schumer has done a lot of bad things, but I think getting rid of him — who will replace him?” Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, he said he views Schumer and most of the Senate Democratic caucus as part of the “establishment.”
Schumer is dismissing the latest wave of criticism from the left wing of his party, saying it comes with the job of being a leader.
He is perhaps the first Senate leader to face criticism from his own party. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), the longtime Republican leader, faced consistent and sharp criticism from conservative critics, but he held on to the top spot for years — even defeating a challenger in 2022.
The two have one thing in common: Schumer and McConnell both spent time leading their party’s campaign committees and had close control over political operations as leaders — meaning they played a key role in electing many lawmakers, who in turn vote in the leadership race. Schumer has recruited several big names to run for office this year, though some primary candidates he is not endorsing have already called on him to resign.
After the March funding fight, Schumer made a concerted effort to prevent another crackdown before the September 30 shutdown deadline. He remained in close contact with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and together they strategized to make health care the centerpiece of his message.
There was no perfect harmony between the two leaders during the six-week bandh, but they mostly sang the same songs. Jeffries gave his fellow Brooklynite an immediate signal of confidence after the Senate moved forward on the deal this week.
When asked whether Schumer was effective as Senate minority leader and should continue his job, he said, “Yes and yes.” He praised Schumer’s “brave fight on behalf of the American people.”
In March, he responded to a similar question by saying, “Next question.”
But progressive anger at Schumer focuses on the perception that he didn’t do enough to keep his members united while trying to extract concessions from Republicans on health care.
Meanwhile, why do they all have “crazy eyes”?
