Bangalore:

Amid Bengaluru’s water crisis, Telugu film star Chiranjeevi Konidela highlighted the need to build houses that help conserve water and shared details of what he was doing at his farmhouse in the city.

He said that by taking these measures, people can save water, improve rainwater harvesting and build eco-friendly houses.

“As we all know, water is the most precious commodity and water scarcity makes daily life difficult. Today there may be water scarcity in Bengaluru. Tomorrow it may happen anywhere. So I would like to use this opportunity to highlight the need for building water shortages that will help conserve water. House. Here I will share what I did for a farmhouse in Bengaluru,” Chiranjeevi Konidela said in a post on ‘X’ on Tuesday.

He noted that recharge wells, 20 to 36 feet deep, are installed at strategic locations throughout the farm and are sloped enough to direct surface water to the recharge wells. “Each well has a filtration system, a different aggregate content, and of silt traps” – rocks sized and sand to facilitate water movement through the layers. “Compared with recharge pits, recharge wells can store more water and allow water to flow more slowly through porous layers in the matrix to reach deeper aquifers,” he added.

The former Andhra Pradesh MP further pointed out that he also implemented the “principles of permaculture”, which he said follows circular principles that revitalize the environment and make it self-sustaining.

“A major outcome of permaculture is the reduced need for water. This is achieved by using dead leaf and wood chip mulches and using garden mulches with suitable ground covers, thus minimizing evaporative losses from the soil,” he said .
