Regina – A sugar tariff of about 76 percent on Canadian canola seeds is ready to be implemented today.
Tuesday’s announcement has already dropped the price of one of the most valuable crops in Canada, which has eliminated millions of dollars in its value.
It comes a year after China started an anti-dumping investigation at Canadian Canola.
The investigation was in response to 100 percent of Canada’s tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, and the two countries have hit each other with various levies.
Canola farmers and Ottawa have dismissed dumping claims, the arguments have followed the rules-based business.
Farmers and lovers premiere have called upon the federal government to solve the issue by constructively speaking with Chinese officials.
