On February 14, China criticized the Taiwan authorities for a vessel accident that killed two Chinese citizens during a pursuit by the Taiwan Coast Guard. The Chinese ship capsized with four people on board near Beiding Island in Kinmen, which is a military garrison. This resulted in all four people on board being thrown into the water, Chinese and Taiwanese authorities reported. Meanwhile, the Taiwan Coast Guard said the speedboat was “within 0.86 nautical miles of prohibited waters.”
