Beijing:
China has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization on the tariff imposed on the tariff imposed by Washington, the Cumming Ministry of Beijing on Wednesday announced, accusing US President Donald Trump of engaging in the “bullying” strategy.
Trump’s latest Salvo came into force on Wednesday, leading China to 104%against the most difficult and the world’s second largest economy.
In vengeance, Beijing increased its own tariffs on American goods by 84%, from the initial 34%, to the tight-for-tat standoff to new levels.
Beijing has called the world to unite against Trump’s aggressive trade policy, and warned that it intends to “fight it to the end”.
Calling the snowballing round of tariffs on China since the February “a serious mistake”, a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce stated that the cumulative measures highlight “unilateral bullying nature of American functions”.
According to state news agency Xinhua, “China has initiated proceedings before the WTO dispute settlement system”.
Beijing “will protect its valid rights and interests according to the WTO rules, and will maintain the multilateral trade system and the International Economic and Trade Order,” he said.
Many countries have started lodging complaints with the World Trade Organization that Tariff imposed by Trump has violated the international trade rules.
But the world trade organization’s room for maneuver is limited and its dispute settlement system has been weakened over the years, in which Washington has blocked the appointment of new judges.
