New Delhi, October 7 (IANS) BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday appreciated the 25 -year tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in public life and described his visit from the Chief Minister of Gujarat to the Prime Minister of India, marked by dedication, service and transformational rule.
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, the senior BJP leader said, “Today is a proud day for our country as our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 24 years in public service and is entering the 25th year. His journey started as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 continues as the path of dedication and service even today.”
Highlighting the welfare achievements of the Modi government, Prasad said that about 25 crore people under the leadership of PM Modi have risen above the poverty line.
He said, “Today the poor are developing in the country. Women are empowering – they are excellent in various fields as Drone Didi, Air Force Pilot and Jeevika Didi. The youth of the country are getting new opportunities.”
The former Union Minister credited PM Modi’s approach to make India a global digital leader.
Prasad said, “‘Digital India’ launched under the guidance of PM Modi is being praised worldwide. India has emerged as an important global leader in digital payments, and more than four crore poor people in the country have got paved (permanent) houses.” He said that India’s economy has become the fourth largest economy in the world and is moving towards third place.
Focusing his focus on West Bengal, Prasad launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after violent incidents targeted by BJP leaders including MP Khagan Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh.
He said, “Mamta ji, please stop talking about democracy. People of Bengal are fed up with infiltration, terrorism and vote-bank politics.” “Those prominent intellectuals who once called Mamata ji a model of good governance, why are you silent today?”
He compared ‘Jungle Raj’ (referring to the era of former CM Lalu Yadav) in Bihar to the situation in West Bengal.
He said, “Jungle Raj was not only in Bihar, but today we are seeing the same in West Bengal under the leadership of CM Mamta. Elected representatives including an MP and an MLA are being brutally attacked, nor have the CM nor the people of his party condemned the attack.”
