Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai welcomed the decision and said it was an important outcome of joint efforts to restore peace, security and development in Naxal-affected and remote areas of the state.
This decision is a strong link in the ongoing effective efforts towards Maoist eradication. Areas where stability has been established through sustained action by security forces and administrative coordination are now witnessing concentrated growth and expansion of digital connectivity, he said in a statement.
The CM said that the new 4G towers to be installed through BSNL will provide accessible and reliable mobile and internet services to people living in remote and inaccessible areas for the first time.
“This will strengthen access to education, health care, employment, administrative services and emergency communications,” he said.
SAI said expanding digital connectivity will also prove to be a milestone for financial inclusion, as better mobile networks will facilitate seamless access to banking services, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), UPI, insurance, pension and other digital platforms for citizens.
He said that this initiative is aligned with the main objective of ‘Digital India’ program to take development to the last mile. He said the increased connectivity would create new digital opportunities for local youth and boost the regional economy.
He said that the Center under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving priority to development along with security in the Naxal-affected states and the Chhattisgarh government is committed to work closely with the Center to bring every citizen into the mainstream of development.
Describing this decision as a historic step towards making the state digitally empowered, secure and inclusive, Sai expressed his gratitude to PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh.
