Gariaband (Chhattisgarh), 24 September (IANS) PM Surya Ghar: A major initiative launched by the Center, Mufa Power Scheme, which aims to illuminate 1 crore houses across the country through roof solar installations. A user in Chhattisgarh has highlighted its positive experience, with a subsidy offer to encourage citizens to adopt it for residential use and manifold benefits.
The major objectives and benefits of the scheme include free electricity, with the provision of free electricity of 300 units per month in eligible houses, to reduce electricity bills, as setting up roof solar panels, family can reduce their dependence on grid power, and for attractive subsidy, 3 kW, for the installation of Rs 70,000 – KW or more.
Similar beneficiaries of Chhattisgarh have highlighted the significant relief from high electricity bills.
Speaking to IANS, Ramkant Sinha, a resident of Panduka village in Gariaband district, shared how the scheme changed his domestic finance. He installed 5 kW solar system on his roof through the scheme and now enjoyed near-zero electricity bills.
He said, “Earlier, I used to pay Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 every month for electricity. After setting up a solar system under PM Surya Ghar Yojana, I no longer need to worry about these expenses. I am very happy and grateful for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this initiative.”
PM Surya Ghar: Mufal Bijli Yojana was officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 February 2024. This initiative is designed to cover up to 40 percent of the cost of installation of roof solar panels through subsidy. It is estimated to benefit more than 1 crore houses by 2026-27, while the government helps to protect the electricity cost of Rs 75,000 crore annually.
The scheme is seeing encouraging progress in many states. In particular, Chandigarh and Daman and Diu have acquired 100 percent solar roof coverage on government buildings, which sets an example in adopting clean energy. States like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are also leading in implementation, which are contributing significantly to national goals.
