Chhattisgarh: Police participated in Maoists in killing tribal villagers

September 17 (IANS) police officers in the Aranpur region of Chhattisgarh have confirmed that the murder of a tribal villager, which was initially suspected of Maoists working, was actually a result of personal enmity.

The incident in Neelavaya Patelpara village under the jurisdiction of Aranpur police station initially expressed concern for the history of Naxalite activity. The victim, 55 -year -old Bandi Koram, Mukki Kram’s son and Madia belonging to the tribal community, were found dead on the morning of 17 September.

Given the vulnerability of the region for the Maoist violence, the preliminary investigation considered the possibility of participation of the Maoists. However, after a quick and thorough investigation, police officers have denied any relationship with rebel groups.

The police said in a statement, “Based on the evidence collected and the statements of the local villagers, it is clear that it was not a Naxalite incident. The murder was stems from a long personal dispute between the deceased and the accused,” the police said in a statement.

The police officer said that eyewitness accounts and forensic conclusions point to the history of stress and unresolved conflict, which eventually causes fatal conflict.

A formal case has been registered at the Aranpur police station, and the officials are actively following the accused. The police have assured that the culprit will be caught soon and appropriate legal results will be faced.

In light of early confusion, law enforcement officials have issued a public advisor to urge the residents not to fall victim to rumors or misinformation. The advisor said, “We appeal to the general public to remain calm and avoid speculation. If anyone has relevant information, they should report it directly to the Aranpur police station,” the advisor said.
