New Delhi, September 20 (IANS) Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), known as the Prime Minister’s youth training program, by equipping the lives of young people in Kondagan, Chhattisgarh with market-affiliated skills and promoting their employment prospects.
Started in July 2015, PMKVY was conceived as a major plan of the Central Government to provide training to 1 crore youth by 2020.
Its purpose is to provide job opportunities to people with limited formal education or who have been out of school.
Under the program, candidates can register for three months, six months or one year training courses. At successful conclusion, trainees get certificates which are valid across the country.
This scheme has been one of the biggest skill development initiatives in India since then. According to government data, PMKVY has trained around 13.7 million people, who rapidly change them and prepare them for employment in the job market.
To support this effort, more than 720 Prime Minister Kaushal Kandras (PMKKS) has been established nationwide. These centers serve as the state -of -the -art hub of vocational education, using modern education and technology for polish skills in various fields.
Highlighting the impact of the scheme, Vidya Thakur, a student in Kondagan, told IANS, “Due to PM Modi’s Kaushal Vikas Yojana, I am able to be free from computer training, along with, I have benefited from schemes like Jane Dhan Yojana and Ayushman Bharat.
He said that such schemes are not only creating employment opportunities, but also empowering the economically weaker sections, especially women of women.
“Due to these programs, poverty is reduced, and women are becoming socially and economically independent,” she said.
With its growing reach, the Skill India Mission under PMKVY plays an important role in shaping the workforce for the vision of a ‘New India’.
