Chhattisgarh: After GST cut, bike prices fall in Kavardhan; Customer footfall falls asleep

Kawardha (Chhattisgarh), 23 September (IANS) After the implementation of GST 2.0 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22 September, the motorcycle showroom customer in Kavardhan city of Chhattisgarh is seeing a significant increase in the footfall. The revised GST structure has reduced the prices of two-wheelers, making them more inexpensive and drawing in a large number of buyers.

At the local dealership, a bike worth Rs 1.20 lakh is now being offered around Rs 1.11 lakh, which is thanks to the reduction in GST rates. This direct benefit has created widespread enthusiasm among the customers, many of which have publicly expressed their praise for the Prime Minister’s decision.

A customer at the showroom, Himanshu Singh Thakur, said that he was grateful to the government for reducing GST, saying that the price cuts have made the motorcycle more accessible to the middle class families. He said that low prices will encourage more people to upgrade their vehicles.

Speaking to IANS, Saraswati Motors, Kavardhan manager Sunil Aggarwal shared that the reaction has been heavy since the lack of GST. “Even the farmers, who were earlier hesitant due to financial obstacles, are now coming forward to buy the bike. This is a big relief for them,” he said.

He said that while the showroom usually receives 3 to 4 customers a day, 25 customers were shot in a single day after the GST cut was effective. The manager said, “Lack of GST on motorcycles has brought a visible change in buyer’s sense of up to 18 percent.” The dealer is optimistic that this trend will continue, benefiting both consumers and local economy.
