New Delhi, November 5 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tribute to Bihar’s famous folk singer late Sharda Sinha on her first death anniversary.

While talking to

Modi Story, a popular social media handle on X, shared inspiring stories from the life of the eminent singer and how her devotional songs bridged tradition with modernity.

Said that Sharda Sinha’s voice, which emerged from the land of Mithilanchal, became a symbol of India’s culture and faith and her immortal voice gave a new identity and recognition to folk music.

It also shared a video of his son Anshuman, who recalled his committed and unwavering devotion towards Indian culture and also reflected his ideals of maintaining the blend of civilizational heritage and modernity.

It is noteworthy that on many occasions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mentioned the contribution of Sharda Sinha while giving credit for giving global recognition to Chhath festival.

Anshuman said one of the proudest moments for the family was when Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the famous folk singer as “Chhathi Maiya’s daughter” at a gathering in Mithilanchal.

Recalling her memorable meeting with PM Modi in 2018, she said, “When Sharda Sinha ji received the Padma Bhushan award, she had a heartfelt meeting with the PM. The Prime Minister then appreciated her excellence and her unwavering service towards the rich cultural heritage of Bihar and the country.”

Anshuman further says that his mother always saw Narendra Modi as a leader who had deep respect and sensitivity for both art and administration.
