Chhaava Box Office Day 6: Vicky Kaushal’s Maratha Magic Beats Almost Every Indian Film in 3 Years

Web Desk, 20/02/202520/02/2025

Hey movie lovers! If you’ve been following Bollywood lately, you’ve probably heard about Chhaava—the big historical action film starring Vicky Kaushal. On its 6th day at the box office (February 19, 2025), this movie has done something incredible—it’s beaten the ticket sales of almost every Indian film from the last three years! Let’s break it down in simple words and see why Chhaava is ruling the theaters.

A Roaring Start That Keeps Going

Chhaava hit theaters on February 14, 2025—just in time for Valentine’s Day—and it’s been a blockbuster ever since. The film tells the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the brave Maratha warrior, played by Vicky Kaushal. People loved it right from the start, and by Day 6, it’s still going strong. On this day, it earned around ₹32-33 crore in India, pushing its total to over ₹203 crore in just six days. That’s huge!

But here’s the real jaw-dropper: on Day 6, Chhaava sold more tickets than almost every single Indian movie released between 2023 and 2025. We’re talking about big hits from Bollywood, Tollywood, and more—Chhaava left them all behind, except for one film. Can you guess which one? More on that later!

Ticket Sales That Shocked Everyone

On its first Wednesday (Day 6), Chhaava sold a massive 583,000 tickets on BookMyShow (BMS)—one of the biggest ticket platforms in India. That’s the second-highest ticket sales for any Indian film in a single day over the last three years. It beat giants like Animal, Jawan, and even Stree 2. The only film it couldn’t top? Pushpa 2: The Rule, which sold 685,000 tickets on its biggest day in 2025. That’s some tough competition from Allu Arjun!

This ticket sales record isn’t just a number—it shows how much people are loving Chhaava. Theaters were buzzing, especially in Maharashtra, where the film had a 34% occupancy in morning shows alone. Why? Well, it was Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti—a holiday in Maharashtra—and fans turned up in huge numbers to celebrate their Maratha hero on screen.

Why Is Chhaava So Unstoppable?

So, what’s making Chhaava such a massive hit? Here are a few reasons:

  1. Vicky Kaushal’s Power: Vicky is killing it as Sambhaji Maharaj. Fans are calling it his best role ever, even better than Uri or Sam Bahadur. His action and emotion are pulling crowds.
  2. Maratha Pride: The film is all about the Maratha Empire’s strength, and people in Maharashtra are super proud to see their history on the big screen.
  3. Holiday Boost: Day 6 was a holiday, and that helped pack the theaters, especially in cities like Pune and Mumbai.
  4. Great Story and Cast: With Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai and Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, plus a gripping tale of bravery, the movie’s got something for everyone.

By Day 6, Chhaava had crossed the ₹200 crore mark in India and was racing toward ₹220 crore by the end of its first week. That’s a victory lap for a film that’s only been out for less than a week!

A New Record for Vicky and Bollywood

This isn’t just a win for Chhaava—it’s a big moment for Vicky Kaushal and the team at Maddock Films. Vicky’s earlier biggest hit, Uri: The Surgical Strike, made ₹244 crore in its full run. Chhaava is already close to that in just six days and might zoom past it soon. It’s also the fifth Bollywood film to sell over 5 million tickets on BMS in its lifetime, joining the likes of Gadar 2 and Jawan. Wow!

Plus, this shows how powerful historical films can be. Chhaava isn’t just breaking records—it’s proving that when you mix a good story with a strong star like Vicky, magic happens.

What’s Next for Chhaava?

With this kind of momentum, Chhaava isn’t slowing down anytime soon. It’s set to have a fantastic first week and could even hit ₹300 crore or more in India if it keeps the buzz alive over the weekend. Outside India, it’s doing great too—earning over ₹21 crore in North America alone by Day 4. Looks like Vicky’s Maratha power is winning fans everywhere!
