Charity gave a formal warning to post a video supporting Hamas

Web Desk, 11/07/202511/07/2025

A Cardiff-Bed Islamic Charity has received a formal warning Charity commission After supporting a video Hamas It was shared on Social media Next 7 October attack,

The Al-Maner Center Trust, which operates a mosque in Welsh Rajdhani, posted the material in November 2023.

The Charity Commission later launched an investigation, stating that the video could be “understood as a demonstration of support for the militant group”.

This investigation is now concluded, the Commission has found “misconduct and/or mismanagement by trustees”.

As a result, charity has been issued with an order to make an order compulsory about its social media practices.

Hamas’s militants kidnapped 72 -year -old, 72 -year -old Edina Moshe, after kidnapping from his house in Neer Oz, inside the strip of Gaza, on 7 October 2023 in a kibtz in Israel near the Gaza border. ,AP,

The declared objectives of the trust include pursuing Islamic education and promoting community relations and religious harmony.

Investigation reported that the charity chair, which was the only trustee responsible for the management of the social media content of the charity, posted the video only after listening to its audio.

The chair believed that without reviewing the visual material, the audio combined with the purposes of the charity.

In the interrogation point of view, the video – which was not built for or for charity – contained the material that contained the accused terrorist organization and its “positive image”. October 2023 Israel attacked,

It also tried to reduce the attack or justify the attack.

The investigation concluded that the video was likely to lead an ordinary member of the public that it was supported by charity and or glorified terrorism.

The investigation found that the chair’s decision to fully rely on the audio was completely insufficient.

Despite receiving regulatory advice in 2014 on protecting donations from extremist misconduct, the Commission found that trustees had failed to implement sufficient social media controls.

In October 2024, the Charity Commission ordered the trustees to direct to take action on the use of their website and social media charity, including all the content reviews on their website and social media platforms.

Joshua Furbridge, the head of compliance trips and inspections in the Commission, said: “The reputation of a charity can be severely damaged in a moment through the careless use of social media.

“Our investigation concluded that the conduct of the trustees fell down from the required standards from them.

“Inadequate control on social media inspired to share harmful materials, and there is no excuse to fail to properly review the material before being shared by a charity.

“Our Swift intervention, which included an official warning and a legal order, requires specific action, which outlines the Commission’s firm commitment to ensure charity in supporting or glorifying terrorism.”
