Srinagar, Nov 19 (IANS) The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch on Wednesday said it has filed a charge sheet in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against six accused in the high-profile CAT records tampering case.
“Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed charge sheet in FIR No. 87/2022 under sections 209, 409, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code before the Honorable Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar,” it said in a statement.
The charge sheet has been submitted against the following accused persons – Pathan Majid Ahmed Khan, son of Mohammad Dilawar Khan, resident of Takiya Khan, Sopore; Mushtaq Ahmed Rather, son of Ghulam Mohammad Rather, resident of Ali Bagh Hygam; Mudasir Yousuf Wani, son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani, resident of Tujjar Sharif, Sopore; Ghulam Mohammed Reshi, son of Ghulam Ahmed Reshi, resident of Yambarzal Wani (Harda-Shiv), Sopore; Bashir Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammed Dar, resident of Bonpora, Nowpora Sopore; And Anoop Mishra, son of Santosh Kumar Mishra, resident of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
The statement noted, “This matter arose from a communication by the office of the Chief Horticulture Officer highlighting suspected tampering in the official documents presented before the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in TA No. 4100/2021. Accordingly, a formal case was registered and an investigation initiated. During the investigation, it was established that the records presented before the CAT Srinagar were unlawfully altered while in its custody.”
The main accused, Pathan Majid Ahmed Khan, in criminal conspiracy with CAT employee Anoop Mishra and other beneficiary employees, made unauthorized entries in the records regarding their regularization in the Horticulture Department.
The investigators also recovered at least 12 official seals of various departments/institutions including that of Director of Horticulture, Block Development Officer, Tehsildar, Regional Education Officer, Principals, Principals etc. from the residence of Pathan Majid Khan.
“Call detail records and WhatsApp communications have confirmed the conspiracy and criminal breach of trust by CAT employee Anup Mishra, as established from the seized cellphone of Pathan Majid Khan. Accordingly, the charge sheet has been submitted before the Hon’ble Court for judicial determination,” the statement said.
