“So, I’ll be completely honest with you, I really have no idea what they’re talking about, they called me and said there were some concerning posts,” the officer told Bushart.

Bushart confirmed that posts were made on Facebook, but was surprised and questioned why police were being sent to his home.

The officer responded: “They wanted me to contact you and let you know that they can get in touch with you and see if you still live here. I don’t know what they’re really saying about you.”

Bushart replied, “Oh, I know, Charlie Kirk,” as he refused to remove the post. Weems later said that he would not have been arrested if he had agreed to remove the meme.

Due to being in jail for more than a month, Buschart reportedly lost his job in medical transport.

His arrest is one of several made since Kirk’s death.
