The Indian cricket team last won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, but has since returned empty-handed on the big stage of international cricket. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had tried to lead the team to the ICC title, but MS Dhoni still had the honor of helping India lift the final on the big stage. A trophy. But, according to former England captain Michael Vaughan, the ICC Champions Trophy is not even a “real trophy”.

“India should win more trophies. 2013 was the last trophy India won, right? ICC Champions Trophy? That’s not really a trophy. Now there’s the World Cup and the World Test Championship, both of which India lost in the finals. There’s this There is so much talent in the country,” Warne said on the Ranveer Show.

India has spared no effort to win the ICC title since the 2013 tournament. 2017 Champions Trophy, 2019 ODI World Cup, 2023 ODI World Cup, two different World Test finals. But, somehow, they still can’t get the title.

Warne admitted on the show that it is puzzling that India has produced some good captains and players but they still underperform on the global stage.

“I met Rohit recently at the World Cup. He really made the team play in a modern and aggressive way. He did everything right but made mistakes in the final, which happens sometimes. Rohit Hitt did a great job in getting the win and Ganguly’s team play at the time made it tough for India and made them tough and when he was the Test captain, I know he gave the game a try. So much love and joy. The game is in a safe place because he has so much passion for this format and of course MS Dhoni, no one is better than him in white ball cricket and I think India should win every 2-3. Trophy,” he said.
