CFIB predicts recession in Canada, with economic contractions in Q2 and Q3

Toronto – Canadian Federation of Independent Business is estimating recession in Canada this year.

A new CFIB report shows that it is estimated that the growth in the second quarter has declined by 0.8 percent and the third quarter will increase by 0.8 percent.

The group states that analysis of the effect of tariffs on supply chains highlights highlights that most firms are estimating long -term disruption.

CFIB chief economist Simon Goudralt says that the state of uncertain trade is affecting the confidence of trade, resulting in the investment halted or canceled.

Private investment is expected to fall 13 percent in the second quarter and the third quarter continued to fall by 6.9 percent.

Despite the anticipated recession, the CFIB has highlighted that inflation remains stable, putting the Bank of Canada in a better position to consider reducing the cost of borrowing in the second half of the year.
