celtics Sacked manager Wilfried Nancy after Saturday’s game Lost 1-3 to rival Rangers.
The Frenchman signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and left after just eight games in charge, six of which were defeats.
The 48-year-old joins Celtic after completing the season MLS He coached the Columbus Crew for one season, and his stint at Parkhead began on December 4 and lasted only 33 days.
During that time, he became the first Celtic manager to lose his first two games in charge, and the first Celtic manager since 1978 to experience four consecutive defeats, with a particularly embarrassing 3-1 loss to St. Mirren in the Premier League Sports Cup final.
Back-to-back wins over Aberdeen and Livingston seemed to buy him some time, but things went downhill again after a 2-0 loss to Motherwell last week and a loss to Rangers at the weekend, who led 0-1 at half-time.
Celtic are now looking for their fourth manager of the season after Brendan Rodgers left in October and interim boss Martin O’Neill – who has seen an improvement in form with seven wins from eight games – was replaced by Nancy. O’Neal may now enter interim status again.
A club statement released on Monday read: “Celtic Football Club has today announced its decision to terminate the contract of head coach Wilfrid Nancy with immediate effect.
“The club thanks Wilfried for his efforts and wishes him and his family all the best for the future.”
Celtic confirmed Nancy’s assistants Kwame Ampadu, Jules Guggen and Maxime Challier, as well as head of football operations Paul Teasdale, have also left the club.
It added: “Further updates will be provided to supporters as soon as practicable.”
Nancy sits second in the Scottish Premiership table with Celtic, six points behind Hearts and level with Rangers.
