first episode of celebrity traitor hit the screens last night and to say it was a rollercoaster would be an understatement.
Unlike the civilian version of the series, which has become a huge hit for the BBC, viewers did not need to be introduced to the contestants, as BBC producers managed to bring together a star-studded cast such as comedian Alan Carr, musician Paloma Faith and actor Celia Imrie.
In the first episode, the celebrities barely had time to take in their surroundings before working on their first challenge, where they had to literally dig their own graves to find a shield to protect them from the first murder of the series.
jonathan rossJo Wilkinson, Jo Marler, Kate Garraway, Sally Imrie and Charlotte Church all received a shield, although Charlotte later gave hers away after the first mission went wrong, due to an accident involving Claire Balding.
Meanwhile, the host claudia winkelmann Allen was chosen along with singer-songwriter Cat Burns and TV host Jonathan Ross as the first three contestants of the series. In a major twist, the show’s first murder will be committed in plain sight.
To kill, Alan must first mark the victim’s face with a black lily, but we’ll have to wait until tonight to see who perishes.
Mark Bonner says being on The Celebrity Traitors was ‘kind of disturbing’
Scottish actor Mark Bonnar has said that joining The Celebrity Traitors was “kind of nerve-wracking”.
Speaking about his time spent filming the show, the 56-year-old told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “It’s kind of upsetting.
“It’s very, very intense, especially when the traitors have been chosen so you know the game has started, you know you have no idea if someone is who they say they are, you try to make up your mind about people but it’s very difficult to recognize that.”
line of duty The actor said the show was “quite stressful”, adding: “What a great release, these acts, that’s the most amazing part. I’m sure you saw last night I was pulling and pushing a two-and-a-half tonne Trojan horse for 30 minutes which was something else but it’s a bit of a release.
“You get to kind of bond as a team and then when you get back to the palace this other intense part starts.”

Who is Kat Burns?
Aside from the exploits of Alan Carr, Cat Burns was probably the biggest talking point of the first episode. The 25-year-old showed maturity beyond her years after showing restraint when chosen as a traitor.
The musician got his first hit with the 2020 single “Go”, which gained popularity on TikTok and eventually peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart in 2022.
The Streatham-born singer was nominated for a Brit Award for Song of the Year in 2023, and was also recognized in the British Pop/R&B Act and Rising Star categories in the same year. He released his first album early twenties Last year.
Fans have already marked her as the favorite to win the show and she already seems to be sticking to her strategy. Before the show, she told the BBC: “My strategy, if I’m a traitor, would be to just try to go under the radar, not draw too much attention to myself, but also give out the names of people who I think might be traitors.”

Why are we all Alan Carr in The Celebrity Traitors?

Who is Ruth Codd?
Irish actor Ruth Codd is possibly the biggest unknown entity on Celebrity Traitors, having risen to fame after falling out of love with her job as a hairdresser and makeup artist during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 29-year-old started posting videos on TikTok after becoming redundant and within a year he had over 670,000 followers.
She was discovered by casting agents and cast in the role of Anya in the Netflix thriller series The Midnight Club Before playing Juno Usher in the 2023 Edgar Allan Poe adaptation miniseries Fall of the House of Usher,
Although she went under the radar in the first episode, Cod’s unique look definitely turned heads whenever she was on screen. Let’s hope we see more of him in the next eight episodes.

Who is Nico Omilana?
The only disappointment of the first episode was that YouTuber Nico Omilana was not chosen as the traitor, but if he was chosen as the traitor, we would be very happy.
The 27-year-old content creator has carved a niche for himself with his underhanded pranks – disguised as a white man – by infiltrating far-right protests in London to expose racism in Britain. In 2018, he went viral after posting his video “Incognito as a racist for 24 hours”, which shows protesters becoming violent towards him after he pulled off his mask.
He particularly made headlines in 2021 when he ran for Mayor of London and garnered an impressive 49,628 votes. In the 2024 general election, he contested against the then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and received 160 votes. However, he attracted more attention when he put an “L” sign behind Sunak, referring to the MP as a loser.
While Nico is one of the lesser-known contestants on The Traitors, Stephen Fry was delighted when he learned of her work. “Stephen knows who I am! I wanted to remain unknown to everyone; now everyone will see me as a scheming prankster.”

Who is Tameka Empson?
Ah, Tameka. He is already having a lot of fun with this series. Who can forget a line from her already iconic episode: “Yes, Claudia. Go away”. Or when he cheerfully confirmed that the group would exploit Tom Daley’s athleticism “for anything.”
Most BBC viewers will be more familiar with her as Kim Foxx in EastEnders, a role she has played since 2009 and has won numerous awards, including the 2012 Inside Soap gong for Funniest Female Performance.
Speaking to the BBC ahead of the show’s launch, Empson admitted that she did not know why she joined Celebrity Traitors, but that she became addicted to the show after watching series two.
Amusingly, she said she would refuse to go out first, even if she was kicked out: “I hope Claudia is good at recovery, because I’m not going out first. I just won’t go. I’ll just say no. It’s going to be different. Yeah, everyone’s sorry but I’m stopping. How about that plot twist?”
Let’s hope the BBC has a contingency plan if they are kicked out tonight.

Celebrity Traitors viewers hail nervous Alan Carr as highlight of new series
It’s safe to say that Alan Carr stole the show in the first episode. The comedian previously claimed he wanted to be the traitor, sending viewers into a frenzy – and then he had to struggle with reality after host Claudia Winkleman branded him a traitor.
Viewers are already calling him the highlight of the series so far and worth the license fee alone.
