New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS) Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan on Friday led a discussion on Defense Research and Development, Autonomous Systems and Future Technologies and Ammunition and Explosives at the second edition of the Brainstorming Session (BSS 2.0).
Delivering the keynote address at the Manekshaw Centre, the CDS highlighted the contribution of PSUs, private sector and MSMEs in defense manufacturing.
Brainstorming session 2.0 on the topic “Self-reliance in Defense – Leveraging the Defense Industry Ecosystem for the Future War” was organized by Headquarters Integrated Defense Staff (HQ IDS) in collaboration with Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM).
“In his welcome address, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Defense Staff, emphasized on promoting domestic industries with a focus on technological advancement and research and development,” Headquarters Integrated Defense Staff said on the occasion.
The event saw significant participation from defense industries, a statement said.
The day-long session discussed issues essential to future warfare, including research and development in ammunition and explosives, autonomous systems and future technologies, a statement said.
The event brought together key stakeholders from across the national security and defense landscape to address priority challenges, identify development opportunities, and facilitate clear, actionable plans.
The outcomes of the session will help advance self-reliance, strengthen India’s leadership in future war zones, and further strengthen operational preparedness and industry capabilities in the defense sector, a statement said.

Earlier in the week, CDS General Anil Chauhan had said that “Operation Sindoor” was a striking example of modern warfare, where precision strike capabilities, network-centric operations, digital intelligence and multi-domain tactics were effectively deployed within a compressed time frame.
In his special address on ‘Impact of Technology on Modern Warfare’ at the Delhi Defense Dialogue, the CDS underlined the imperative for military leadership to rapidly adapt to emerging realities, noting that technological superiority has become a decisive factor in determining success on the battlefield.
General Anil Chauhan stressed that war is fundamentally about ensuring victory, and those who lead in technology will ultimately win.
