New Delhi [India]January 11 (ANI): The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has intensified its investigation into Ola Electric Mobility Limited and sought more documents as part of its ongoing investigation into alleged violation of consumer rights.

This latest request was made via email on January 10, following a notification to the company on December 4, 2024.

“Following the letter received by Ola Electric Mobility Limited from the Central Consumer Protection Authority on December 4, 2024, we would like to inform you that the company has received a further request for information via email dated January 10, 2025, “Ola Power Company said in an exchange filing on Friday.

A few days ago, the Karnataka High Court granted a six-week extension to the Bhavish Aggarwal-led company to submit its reply to the CCPA. The CCPA first issued a show-cause notice to Ola Electric on October 8, 2024, alleging alleged violation of consumer rights, misleading advertising and unfair trade practices.

The investigation focuses on consumer complaints about defects in the quality and after-sales support of Ola’s electric vehicles.

The matter has been filed before the Karnataka High Court and legal proceedings are ongoing. The court has given Ola Electric six weeks to respond to the CCPA notice, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations and the regulator’s focus on consumer protection.

Ola Electric faces intense scrutiny from consumers and regulators. Allegations of quality issues and inadequate customer service have drawn attention to challenges within the industry, where maintaining consumer trust is critical.

The company’s exchange filing said the nature of the action was a request for additional information aimed at furthering the ongoing investigation into Ola Electric’s operations.

Ola Electric also said the information request did not have any quantifiable impact on the company’s operations and assured stakeholders that there was no immediate impact on its financial or operational activities. (Arnie)
