Official sources said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating cases related to the NEET UG 2024 examination, in which some MBBS students have been found to be involved in serious misconduct.
These include solving the leaked question papers and implementing other candidates during the examination.
Given the severity of these violations and their ability to reduce the credibility of the medical education system, the National Medical Commission has issued instructions to the concerned medical colleges and institutions that they can immediately complicate 26 MBBS students.
In addition, 14 more students have been canceled for Ay 2024-25. These students were found to be involved in unfair practices during the NEET UG 2024 examination.
Cases identified by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an inappropriate means (UFM) were examined in detail by the UFM committee of NTA, after which NTA has debared 42 candidates for three years, IE 2024, 2025 and 2026 for three years from taking the NEET (UG) exam. In addition, nine candidates have been debated for two years, IE 2025 and 2026.
The candidature of 215 candidates appearing in the NEET (UG) 2024 examination has been kept in light of the ongoing investigation.
The Commission said that such malpractices not only compromise the sanctity of the examination process, but also pose a direct threat to medical education and standards of public trust.
The Commission repeats its zero-tolerance policy towards academic fraud and is committed to all necessary measures to maintain integrity, transparency and accountability in medical entry. (AI)
