New Delhi, October 10 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday filed a charge sheet against three accused involved in bribery of Rs 50 lakh.
Accused – Dr. Ajay Kumar, Additional. Director, CGHS Meerut, Lavesh Solanki, Office Superintendent, CGHS Meerut and Raees Ahmed (private individual).
According to the CBI, it registered the instant case on August 12, 2025, against the two accused public servants on the basis of a complaint lodged by a private hospital in Meerut, UP.
“The complainant medical group runs various hospitals in and around Meerut under different names. The complainant had alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 50 lakh for not excluding the hospitals from the list of CGHS empaneled hospitals,” the CBI said in its press note.
It further said that after negotiations, the accused public servant agreed to accept partial payment of Rs. 5 lakh on August 12, 2025 (1st installment of bribe amount Rs 50 lakh)
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused public servants and a private person red-handed with a bribe amount of Rs. 5 lakh.
After searching the residential premises of the accused, the CBI recovered Rs. 29.50 lakh.
“Searches were conducted at the residential premises of the accused, which resulted in recovery of cash amounting to Rs 29.50 lakh along with several other incriminating documents from the residential premises of accused Ajay Kumar,” the agency said.
During the investigation, various oral, documentary and digital evidence were collected, which confirmed criminal conspiracy, instigation and demand of illegal gratification by the accused persons.
The central agency had earlier this week arrested a superintendent and an inspector of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) in Mumbai for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a businessman.
The agency reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption in government departments and urged citizens to report any cases of bribe demand through its dedicated helpline and online portal.
