The Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday moved a special court in Mumbai seeking a stay on the shooting of a documentary series on Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case.
The documentary series, titled “The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth,” delves into the disappearance of 25-year-old Bhola and is scheduled to premiere on streaming platform Netflix on February 23.
In an application filed through prosecutor CJ Nandode, the CBI asked the court to “issue directions to the accused and other persons involved to cease/desist the appearance of the accused and persons connected with the case on Netflix and the documentary being aired on any platform until it is being The test being conducted is over”.
CBI Special Judge SP Naik-Nimbalkar issued notice to Netflix Entertainment Services India and other companies, asking them to respond to the application.
A hearing on the application is scheduled for February 20. In April 2012, Bora (24) was allegedly strangled to death in a car by Indrani Mukerjea, her then driver Shyamvar Rai and ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna.
Bora is Indrani’s daughter from a previous relationship. Her burnt body was found in a forest in neighboring Raigad district. Bora’s murder came to light in 2015 after driver Shyamvar Rai revealed the incident after his arrest in another case.
Indrani was detained in August 2015 and released on bail in May 2022. Rai, Khanna and Peter Mukerjea were also granted bail in the case.
