The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has dismantled an illegal call center in Lucknow that was allegedly targeting US citizens, and arrested a key operator linked to a widespread international cyber crime network.
Accused Vikas Kumar Nimar was on the agency’s radar since September 2024, when the CBI registered the case and conducted searches at several places.
He is accused of playing a key role in setting up and running an illegal call center under VC Informatics Private Limited. Ltd in Pune and Visakhapatnam, both of which were raided last year along with similar action in Hyderabad.
Nimar was absconding after the case was registered, but was arrested from his residence in Lucknow on 20 November 2025. A search of the premises led to the recovery of ₹14 lakh in cash, mobile phones and documents related to the alleged fraud.

The CBI said it also uncovered another unauthorized call center run by Nimar in Lucknow. A search of the site revealed 52 laptops containing incriminating digital evidence, which are believed to have been used in the cybercrime operation.
The agency said the investigation is ongoing.
