CBI arrests ITAT judicial member for taking bribe to settle cases

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced the arrest of a judicial member of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) for allegedly taking bribe to settle tax cases.

In this case, CBI has also arrested the appellant Muzammel and his lawyer Rajendra Sisodia.

The lawyer was caught with bribe 5.5 lakh. CBI alleges that the appellant used the Hawala network to pay the bribe.

The CBI has cast a wide net and also arrested the assistant registrar and other public officials attached to the ITAT bench of Jaipur.

CBI also conducted searches in Jaipur and Kota. seized cash worth more than 1 crore.

The CBI revealed that a series of cash, transaction histories and property papers revealed an organized syndicate.
