Bengaluru, September 23 (IANS) Karnataka Legislative Council opposition leader and senior BJP leader Shalwadi Narayanaswamy on Tuesday alleged that the ‘remote control’ of the Karnataka state permanent backward classes is not being run by those who are officially participated.
The Commission has been entrusted with the task of census caste in the state.
Narayanaswamy led the chairman of the Commission to Madhusudhan Naik to the BJP delegation, demanding the cancellation of Christian tags given to 15 more castes in the list of Scheduled Castes related to socio-economic and academic survey, also known as a caste census.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Narayanaswamy said that the census survey of the caste began on Monday.
He described the survey as confusion as a state of confusion and accused it of being a “anti -Hindutva” policy.
“We (BJP delegation) met the Chairman of the Commission to request the resolution of this illusion. Brahmin Christians, Lingayat Christians, Vokkaligas, Veerasavas have all been labeled as Christians.
He said that when the protest took place and powerful communities protested, their names were hidden.
“But the names of the Scheduled Castes and the categories were not hidden, causing confusion.”
He alleged that the names of all castes have not been completely removed from the survey.
“They are vaguely speaking. They say that even after adaptation to Christianity, the original caste remains intact. Will they decide that reservation should be given in the native caste itself? The court has already given its decision. Who are they deciding?” He asked.
He also said, “If Dalits are converted into Christianity, they still cannot be considered Dalit. This is where there is confusion. Do not classify those people who have been converted to other religions. If you continue in this manner, you will not be able to write a single document. We (BJP) will not allow it.”
He said that in the report of Sadashiv Commission, Nagamohan Das Commission, Kantharaju Commission and Jayaprakash Hegde Commission, the term ‘Christian’ was not included in the context of Scheduled Castes.
“So where has it come from now?” He asked.
He said that the chairman of the commission had assured the BJP delegation that a meeting would be called on Tuesday evening to take a decision on the matter.
“If no decision is taken today, the commission will be responsible for the results alone,” Narayanaswamy warned.
He also said that there were arguments during the discussion and people are hurt.
“There is no objection to adaptation to Christianity, but is commission engagement in brokerage work?” He asked.
