Cardiff International Airport was evacuated on Thursday after a gas-related incident involving an air conditioner.
Passengers scheduled to take off from the airport posted photos on social media showing the evacuation.
The terminal is now reopened, cardiff The airport apologized for any inconvenience caused by what it described as a “minor flight delay”.
The airport is located in Luce in the Vale of Glamorgan, approximately 12 miles from Cardiff city centre, and is owned by the Welsh Government.
Although the terminal has now reopened, the airport said some flights may still be delayed following earlier evacuations.
Among the delayed flights, the airport website listed a KLM flight to Amsterdam that was scheduled to depart at 10.20am as departing at 10.38am.
An airport spokesman said: “Unfortunately, we have had a safety incident related to air-conditioning gases in an area of terminal construction work.”
“Safety and security are our top priority, so the landside area was evacuated while our teams carried out safety checks.”
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, Cardiff Airport will handle 857,000 passengers in 2022, a 41.4% decrease from 2017.
