capital Police The call was made after a Congress employee spotted a Swastika flag on the wall during a virtual call.
The American flag, modified with red and white lines in the shape of a swastika, was painted on a cubist wall along with other souvenirs, including a pocket Constitution. politicoFrom which a picture of the flag was obtained.
According to Politico, the photo was taken during a virtual meeting at which Angelo Elia, legislative correspondent for Representative Dave Taylor, was present.
It is not clear whether the room belonged to Elia or what role the employee played in the incident. Elia has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
A spokesperson for the Ohio Republican told POLITICO that the flag was found inside Taylor’s Washington, DC office on Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, after Politico published its reporting, Taylor issued a statement about the “vandalism” at his D.C. office.
He said, “I am aware of an image that appears to depict a disgusting and highly inappropriate symbol held by an employee in my office. The content of that image does not reflect the values or standards of this office, my staff, or my own, and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms.”
The congressman said he “immediately” ordered an investigation into the matter with Capitol Police.
“No further comment will be given until this is completed,” he said.
Independent has reached out to Capitol Police for comment and has attempted to contact Taylor and Elia.
