Canadian Victoria MBoko National Bank Advance in Open Finals

Victoria Mboko is a win from the WTA title on the soil of the house.

The 18-year-old Canadian continued his remarkable run at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers in the semi-finals in Montreal with 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) by Rogers.

After falling quickly in the initial sets, MBoko showed tremendous flexibility to win the next two and excluded the number 9-wise Rybakina.

Canadian also had to fight through a strange decline in the third set that appeared to injure his wrist. Above 2–1 in the final set, Mboko had to take a medical timeout to tap his wrist, but fought to win the match.

After starting the year ranked outside the top 300, MBoko is already guaranteed to go to the top 50 after the event. If she wins the tournament, she could move to the top 25, which seemed unimaginable until a few days ago.

Canadian final test of the tournament would come against the winner of the second semi -final on Wednesday between Naomi Osaka and Clara Tuson.

The MBoko National Bank will enter the open final, which will become the first Canadian to win the event as Bianka Andresku won all this in 2019.
