New Delhi, Oct 26 (IANS) Union minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday took a direct dig at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, criticizing posters in which the opposition leader was described as the “hero” of Bihar and remarked that calling a “disabled” hero is an insult to the word.

Manjhi social media platform

Along with the post, Manjhi shared an image of a poster featuring Tejashwi Yadav, which is being widely circulated in Patna and other cities. The posters depict Yadav as a “youth icon” and “hero of Bihar”, projecting him as the chief ministerial face of the opposition grand alliance ahead of the upcoming state elections.

While NDA allies hailed Manjhi’s post as a “reality check”, RJD insiders dismissed it as an act of desperation.

Earlier in the day, RJD leader and Grand Alliance chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav held a press conference in Patna and said that the people of Bihar were ready for change. Yadav said, “The people of Bihar gave them (BJP and NDA) 20 years. We are only asking for 20 months and I have full faith that this time people will bring change.”

Outlining his party’s promises, Yadav announced that if the grand alliance government is elected, it will double the allowance for Panchayat and Gram Kachari representatives and introduce a pension scheme for former representatives. Emphasizing on the development-centric approach rooted in social welfare, he said, “Together, the Grand Alliance will build a new Bihar.”

He also reiterated his previous promises to regularize contractual workers, recalling that during his 17-month tenure as Deputy CM, the government achieved what it could not in the other 17 years. He said, “If uncle ji (Nitish Kumar) had not changed sides, all the pending works would have been completed.”

Yadav confirmed that discussions are underway with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and a joint manifesto of the grand alliance will be announced soon. “We will soon sit together and present our vision for Bihar before the public,” he said.
