Calgary police officer accused two cases of second degree murder

Calgary- A Calgary police officer has been accused of two cases of murder of a second degree after shooting and killing the people of one van after chasing a slow pace in 2023.

Alberta serious event response team, also known as Asirt, announced the allegations in a news release on Tuesday.

The Calgary police said in a statement that the officer has given leave from service.

The shooting took place on the morning of May 29, 2023, when the police were called to a report of suspects on private property, who then ran into a stolen cube van.

The police had said at that time that additional calls were received on the memorial drive wrongly about white cube van driving.

Chase’s video suggests that the van is being watched at the speed of crawling by several police vehicles, and the police said that “rapidly changing dynamics” inspired an officer to shoot the van.

Const. Craig Stotherd was charged on Monday. He appeared in court in two cases on Tuesday and was released on bail with conditions.

Both the victims in the case were identified by the media after shooting as Vasley Davidson, 46, and Levon Boys Fox, 39. A third person in the van was uninhabited and was taken into custody.
