Grants can be used to use property and to stay or rent it, but this should be done for a minimum of 10 years from the date of payment of grant so that the grant is avoided.
If someone decides to sell the property in the first five years of receiving the grant, they will need to reimburse the local authority.
The Housing Department, the local government and the inheritance said that by the end of March this year, a total of 35 islands under vacant assets have been obtained with 22 approved by the relevant local authorities.
