Burka-clad voters should be verified by women officials at polling booths

Patna, October 4 (IANS) Beyond the state assembly elections, BJP chief Dilip Jiswal on Saturday met Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanash Kumar and gave some suggestions, including heavy safety and identity of burqa-clad women by women officials in polling booths.

Speaking to media persons in Patna, Jaiswal said that the BJP first congratulated the Election Commission of India for a special intensive amendment of the voter list.

“We have suggested the deployment of central paramilitary forces in villages dominated by backward, extremely backward and Dalit communities. Their flag in such areas will help instill confidence among voters. We requested the deployment of mounted brigade on horse in Diara, Taal, and Horse in misleading areas, which to stop booth capturing,” said Jaswal.

The BJP leader pointed to the issues faced in the last election.

He said, “There were complaints that voter slip was not distributed on time. This time, we have appealed for timely delivery, as well as a day or two of voting with text messages alert and webcasting. We also demanded CCTV monitoring at all polling stations,” he said.

Jaiswal said that the BJP urged the Commission to vote in one or two phases, so that the expenses of the candidates could be reduced and the administrative burden could be reduced.

The safety of voters was also an important demand.

According to Jaiswal, the CEC emphasized the importance of collecting Form 17C, which includes an account for the votes recorded.

“The CEC said that sometimes polling agents of the voting parties leave before the end and subsequent level allegations. They have specially requested all the parties to collect Form 17C before leaving their agents before leaving the polling station.”
