Hyderabad, 5 October (IANS) India President (BRS) has slammed the Congress government to increase bus fares in Hyderabad.
BRS Executive Chairman KT Ram Rao said on Sunday that it is a decision to see the charge of Rs 10 in the charges of the city bus at once.
He faced ‘X’ to react to the decision of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) to increase bus fares.
KTR, as BRS leader is popularly known, accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of emptying the pockets of poor middle class travelers in the twins of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The BRS leader said that at a time when people are struggling with the rising prices of essential commodities, every passenger is imposed an additional burden of Rs 500 per month. He said that the Chief Minister should tell how the poor will live.
“As the student bus allegations increase and the T -24 ticket fee were not already sufficient, now ticket prices have increased by 50 percent without mercy, which is a will without mercy,” he said.
“It seems that the Chief Minister, who is trying to squeeze the people of Hyderabad by implementing the burden of about crores of rupees every day, is a serious against the residents of the state capital,” he said.
He said that instead of strengthening RTC, it is unforgivable to squeeze the common traveler due to free bus travel for women.
TGSRTC announced that it would increase the fare of all city bus services operated in Hyderabad and Secunderabad from Monday.
According to the new fare structure announced by TGSRTC, passengers traveling by simple, metro express, e-ordinary and e-expenses services of the city will pay an additional Rs 5 for the first three phases and Rs 10 from the fourth phase. For metro deluxe and e-Metro AC services, the additional fee will be Rs 5 for the first phase and Rs 10 from the second phase.
The move aims to financing the expansion of electric bus infrastructure in the city.
TGSRTC plans to include 2,800 electric buses by 2027, replacing diesel buses within the outer ring road (ORR) boundaries.
