Brothers and sisters were re -paired with indifferent photographs within a few days, as he said, “Social media power”.

“I randomly joined the group because it appeared on my news feed and I felt it was quite fun,” Ms. Kirkam, who is a full -time mother, told the PA news agency.

“One day, someone who went to school with Chris and I, but was not in the same class as we were tagged, and I clicked on the link and it took me to the picture of Chris and I, which was the most bizarre thing.”

Mr. Kirkam, who worked as a mechanic, told PA: “I was surprised to a great extent.

“I think I was just doing washing up and Jade asked me if I had seen the Facebook post and I said no and when I saw it, I was not convinced that it was a picture of both of us who were sitting together in the primary school.”

“At that time, I remember that I remember myself: ‘Oh, she is sitting on my lap’ and I was angry about it,” he said.

Cloe Polay – An administration assistant located in Boston – managed to recover the photo from the charity shop and posted it to Ms. Kirkam on 10 March, who received it on 13 March.

26-year-old Ms. Pule said that she saw the Facebook post during the break at work, so decided to recover the picture as it was close-she was also given free by the manager.

“Honestly, I am glad that she can withdraw the photo. I know how much memories can have a picture and I hope any civilized person will do the same,” she told PA.

Brother -in -law said that they were uncertain how the photo ended at the charity shop, but it could be mistakenly donated by a family member.

Mr. Kirkam said that the pair’s father was in “Sarasar Nrust” when he was told the story.

He said, “I remember his eyes were open and he did not believe until we showed him a Facebook post.”

Now the infamous photo is with Ms. Kirkam at her home.

“Our story shows the power of social media – no one knew us and this picture is back to us. It’s amazing and just goes to show you that social media is crazy,” he said.

He said that he had never expected the post to get so much traction, initially hoping that it would only provide a bit of light humor.

He said, “I did not expect it to be as much as it was done, I just posted it as a laugh if someone would recognize him,” he said.

“I’m really happy that it comes back to them.”
