Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday expressed concern that he called a “lost brotherhood” and underlined the need to honor everyone despite his political views.

Azad was in Rasi district to present his condolences to a party worker on the death of his father.

He also reiterated his demand for the restoration of the state to Jammu and Kashmir, arguing that it is necessary for the progress of the region.

Azad said, “For development, for progress in the state, it is necessary for progress in the state. And the state is not a Hindu-Muslim issue, not only a Kashmiri issue. It affects every party, every religion, every region.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Congress party on Tuesday protested against the central government to “cheat the people of Jammu and Kashmir” and did not meet the demand for abolishing the cancellation of Article 370 to meet the region’s demand to restore the state.

Congress leader and party general secretary (organization) KC Venugopal, participating in a protest at Jantar Mantar, said that the Center is going back to its word after promising the state in the region.

“The Government of India is cheating the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They have already promised a state for Jammu and Kashmir, which they are not doing at all. We have heard of becoming a union area, which has never heard of becoming a state, we have never heard of becoming a union area.”

Regarding the demand of the state, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) organized a ‘our state, our rights’ program in Jammu and Kashmir.

Party leader Imran Masood, also told ANI in protest, “We are to get him for the state with JK people. The Congress is firm in giving JK people his rights. You have stolen the rights of the people” “
