While many people think tiktok Or Instagram Gen Z’s favorite platforms are, pinterest Slowly emerging as one of the most influential social media for people under 30.

Pinterest mood boarding has become the favorite visual search engine for fashion, beauty, and interiors.

So the forum’s annual Pinterest predictions The report has become an oddly accurate fashion crystal ball over the years — predicting everything from tomato-like summer surges to cool luxury overhauls.

According to the data, we’re leaving the well-kept stash behind, and entering a year defined by maximalist jewellery, 1980s silhouettes and a new take on utilitarian khakis.

It’s a line-up that sounds chaotic on paper, but actually reflects a broader change in the way people dress – with more individuality and a desire to dabble in nostalgia.

To highlight the trends — and explain how to actually wear them without looking like you stepped out of a time capsule — we asked celebrity stylists alice ranson To decode the five biggest looks that will dominate 2026.

1. brooches and maximalist jewelery

Maximalism is back – chaotic, everything at once, not like the festival jewelery of the 2010s – but in a more retro, girly way. And according to Ranson, brooches are the easiest entry point.

The channel returned last season thanks to new creative director Matthew Blazey, who spurred a revival, with Ranson noting that “channel This is probably one of the best places where we see inspiration for brooches and the whole old retro styling that is coming back.”

But forget the fussy pearl clusters of yesteryear. Ranson insists: “I would avoid pearls [so as not to look outdated] And choose gold or silver – use a brooch instead of your statement earrings.

When it comes to what to wear it with, she says, “We’re making shoulder pads now […] You can place a small brooch on a padded top over the shoulder – this can be a really subtle, pretty way to [to finish a look],

The main thing is to lean towards modern metals with shine and stay away from old bronze and pearls so as not to look too old.

2. Icy blue and celestial white

When it comes to 2026’s color palette, Pinterest users are loving frosted blues, moonlight whites and pearl textures — but how do you incorporate holographic if you’re used to dusty grays and denim?

Ranson says an easy way to experiment with these is to replace them with your basics.

“Think about your basics and your base elements,” she says. “Swap your white T-shirt for an icy blue T-shirt – instead of trying to wear a statement holographic blue blazer.”

If pearly white seems like too much, Ranson says to try accents from the color family — “perhaps a light blue bag or a blue court shoe with a simple staple look.”

Incorporating a trending color palette into your basics helps make your everyday wardrobe more cool and modern.

3. Ugly, loose and bold

The 1980s are back. Minimalism’s grip is officially loosening and we’re entering the era of volume – sweeping circle skirts, big shoulders, oversized belts and all-round voluminous silhouettes.

“I’m so excited that maximalism is back because I’m a little bored of beige,” Ranson laughs. But she’s quick to caution that becoming a complete maximalist is a fast way to feel the pressure.

His golden rule is one big piece at a time.

“Think about your proportions,” she suggests, “perhaps wear a larger skirt but then a cinched blazer with a more tapered top or jeans.”

She tailors clients’ preferences to their height – “Ferne McCann [who’s 5’8″] “Could have gotten away with a lot more shoulder pads,” she says, while Dani Dyer [who’s 5’1″] Being more beautiful, it may overpower her body.”

She says those with slimmer physiques may prefer a sloping waist with narrow shoulders; While longer silhouettes can lean more into the drama.

,More “It’s really fun,” she says.[this trend] Carrie Bradshaw is great, big belts are massive and experimental silhouettes – it feels a little more fun than the trends of 2025.

4. Lace up

Lace – once tied to the prim-and-proper coquette-core – is entering a new era.

Pinterest searches for lace tights, lace trims and sheer lace detailing are taking off thanks to the runways of Dior and Bora Aksu — yet most shoppers don’t want to dress like a ballerina.

“Lace is a tricky thing – you either love it or you really don’t,” says Ranson. Her advice for giving the trend a subtle dose – don’t go with a full-on look.

“It could just be small, slight nods — a lace pocket, a lace hem, a lace cami under a blazer.” Even chokers and lace neck scarves are resurfacing, she says, as inexpensive ways to rock the trend.

For those who find lace too delicate, Ranson recommends contrast: “Wear it with something more masculine—an oversized blazer, wide-leg trousers, even barrel jean.”

5. Khaki Coded

Utility jackets aren’t new, but workwear with pockets is becoming the go-to style of 2026.

According to Pinterest, structured safari-style jackets dressed in an earthy palette are rising in popularity.

But when it comes to tonal dressing—dessert neutrals are tricky, the universal question arises: What if it washes me out?

“I love camel beige, but it completely washes me out,” says Ranson. She is skeptical of rigorous color analysis, explaining that one client’s results were the opposite of what she would have personally chosen for them.

Instead, his approach is easy-going and practical.

“Whenever I wear certain colors, I remember how many compliments I get,” she says. I think it’s a good way to learn what suits you.

If beige turns you off, try olive or pistachio. If icy neutrals make your eyes sparkle, lean toward them. “Does your skin look smooth? Are your eyes bright? Pay attention,” she says.
