Britney Spears representatives has responded to the shocking claims made by her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, in his new memoir, You thought you knew.
47-year-old dancer and DJ Federline got married pop star43, from 2004 to 2007. They have two sons: Shawn Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.
In an excerpt from Federline’s memoir published by the new York Times On Tuesday she claimed her then-teenage sons were afraid to stay at their mother’s house.
“They would sometimes wake up in the night to find her standing silently at the door, watching them sleep – ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ – with a knife in his hand,” he writes. “Then she would turn around and walk away without any explanation.”
In response to the claims, Spears’ representative said Independent: “With the news of Kevin’s book breaking, once again she and others are profiting from him and sadly this comes after Kevin was owed child support.
“She only cares about her children, Shawn Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensational ordeal. She details her journey in her memoir.”
In Spears’s 2023 memoir, the woman inside meIn a film being made, the “Toxic” singer writes that Federline refused to let him see their sons and “tried to convince everyone that I was completely out of control” as part of her bid for full custody.
“I’ve never, ever, ever once been against Britney,” Federline said. the new York Times“I’ve only tried to help my sons have an incredible relationship with their mother. And it’s hard because when I really consider everything that’s happened — my kids don’t know the woman I married. And I’ve spent two decades trying to bridge that gap.”
Spears was placed under a conservatorship in 2008, overseeing her finances and personal affairs, as she suffered a mental breakdown and was placed in a psychiatric ward. Federline was granted primary custody of their children, and Spears was granted supervised visitation.

Federline is married to Victoria Prince, with whom he has daughters Jordan Kay, 14, and Peyton Marie, 11.
Britney has worked to get more time with her children over the past few years and in 2019 was awarded 30 percent custody rights, while Federline retained 70 percent.
Spears’ conservatorship was terminated in 2021 amid a fan-driven “Free Britney” movement when a judge found it was “no longer needed.”
However, in the years since, Spears has Continued to display erratic behavior on social media.
