British woman discovers WWII bomb shelter in her backyard: 'We had no idea'

A woman in Britain was stunned to discover a possible World War II underground bomb shelter in her backyard. According to New York PostRebecca Hobson, 34, was told by neighbors about the 160-foot shelter behind her Kent home in England during the COVID lockdown in 2020. But he never checked it until this year. Ms Hobson discovered the huge tunnel with her partner Darren by removing slabs of pavement. The couple live in a village near Folkestone.

Ms Hobson was quoted as saying, “When we moved into the house we had no idea about the air raid shelter in our garden.” UK based Metro,

He added, “A few years later some locals said the garden might have something to do with the war. We’re still trying to dig into its history, but it’s still really interesting.”

Ms Hobson also shared pictures of the incredible discovery on her social media handles. She has been living at home for 15 years.

A video posted on her TikTok takes viewers on a virtual tour of a medium-sized tunnel structure with lights Post report,

Mousetrap debris, dusty bottles and bowls are also visible in the clip.

One user wrote, “This is crazy! Such an incredible find! Forgive the disappointment in me, but due to the state of the world I will definitely still keep it as a haven.”

“Does the other end lead anywhere?” another asked, to which Ms Hobson and her partner replied, “It comes out from under the road but that end is blocked off. So the only way in and out is through our garden.”

Before Ms. Hobson, a woman found a nuclear bunker in a basement in her grandmother’s house, which she said the previous owners had installed in fear of nuclear war or, rather, a zombie apocalypse.
