A British man has died in a skiing accident in France.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was traveling to the resort in Avoriaz. France.
According to local media reports, the man, aged in his 60s, hit a tree at high speed after swerving to avoid a group of people.
The incident occurred at around 3 pm local time on March 26.
Despite the efforts of the mountain rescue team, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A fellow skier who is said to have witnessed the tragedy told MailOnline: “The man lost control in a very tight, icy corner of the blue run. He appeared to gain control and carried on, then He lost control again and fell headfirst. Go straight through the network sign indicating a right turn.
“As I turned the corner I looked back and saw him lying on a tree trunk surrounded by other trees and rocks.”

A spokesman for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said: “We are providing support to the family of a British man who died in France and are liaising with local authorities.”
Avoriaz is considered a top ski resort and one of the 13 ski resorts in the Portes du Soleil region.
Avoriaz has been contacted for comment.
