British man dies after being hit by huge wave at Varkala beach in Kerala: Police

A 55-year-old foreigner died in a freak accident while body surfing at the famous Varkala beach in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Police said: “Roy, who is from the UK, was hit by a huge wave while on shore after body surfing.”

Body surfing is a surfing sport that does not require the assistance of any buoyancy device such as a surfboard.

“The wave hit him from behind, causing his head to hit the ground. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, but could not be saved,” police said.
