British ‘evil monster’ chopped wife’s body into 224 pieces and threw them into river

A 28-year-old British man stabbed his wife multiple times, then chopped her body into 224 pieces, then wrapped the body in a plastic bag and threw it into the river. He pleaded guilty to murder without giving a reason and is expected to be sentenced on Monday (April 8).

The body of victim Holly Bramley, 26, was found in the River Witham in Bassingham, Lincolnshire, on March 25, 2023, eight days after she was reported missing.

According to Lincolnshire Police, the 28-year-old defendant, Nicholas Metson, from Lincoln, had previously denied killing his wife.

Police said a second man, Joshua Hancock, 28, also pleaded guilty to dealing with a corpse.

At a sentencing hearing at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, it was revealed that Hancock was a friend of Matson’s and that Matson paid him to dispose of the remains which he hid for almost a week after the murder. British Broadcasting Corporation the report said.

However, Matson, who had previously been convicted of offenses against his ex-partner in 2013, 2016 and 2017, did not provide a reason for killing his wife.

The court heard the couple, who married in 2021, were on the verge of separating when Matson stabbed Bramley multiple times at their apartment in Lincoln.

Bramley’s mother and sister read victim impact statements at Friday’s hearing, describing Matson as an “evil monster” who had “coercively controlled and manipulated” her.

The statement also said the couple’s 16-month marriage had “irretrievably broken down.”

Quoting sources, daily mail Metson also reportedly had a history of animal abuse and had “punished” his wife’s pets by killing them, including puppies and hamsters.

During the hearing, a prosecutor told the court that Lincolnshire Police sent a team to the couple’s apartment after receiving a call on March 24, 2023, with concerns about Bramley’s safety.

When the police team arrived at their home, Matson opened the door and told officers he was a victim of domestic violence and that Bramley had attacked him at the weekend.

He even showed police bite marks on his forearm, prosecutors told the court, adding that his wife ran away from home on March 19 with a local mental health support group.

However, when police visited the house again on March 25, they found blood on the sheets in the bathtub, large dark stains on the master bedroom floor, a saw in the kitchen, and strong ammonia and bleach Agent smell.

Prosecutors further said there were signs the house had been renovated and recently cleaned, with Matson even joking to police that his wife “could be hiding under the bed.”

He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder.

On the evening of March 25, 2023, a passerby noticed plastic bags floating in the River Witham, one of which had its hand severed.

Prosecutors told the court on Friday that Bramley’s “injuries went far beyond what was necessary to dismember her body.”

After the murder, Matson withdrew £50 from his wife’s account and according to CCTV footage played in court, Bramley was last seen returning to her home on March 17, 2023.

Another CCTV footage shows Metson using the apartment’s lift to remove a plastic bag containing the body from the 14th floor on March 25.

According to his online history, he also searched online for questions such as “What benefits would I get if my wife died?” and “What will haunt me when someone dies?”
