An eight-year-old boy, Jaxon Bentley, “nearly died” after contracting salmonella after eating eggs while staying at a five-star resort in Turkey. His mother, Natalie Parr, said her son was “nothing more than what he once was” after suffering kidney failure caused by bacteria, the Daily Mail reported. British Underground.

In June last year, while the family was on vacation for a week, he was rushed to the hospital with severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and high fever on the third day of the trip. He was able to fly back to the UK and was quickly rushed to a clinic.

It was later determined that his symptoms were caused by two strains of salmonella, one of which can be fatal and cause neurological damage. Within weeks, the boy was admitted and discharged multiple times. According to his mother, it was traumatic and he still hasn’t fully recovered six months later.

“Jackson is back home and although we have tried to get back to a normal life, we have not gotten there yet. He still cannot eat normally without pain. A once lively and outgoing boy went on holiday to Turkey and came back… All that’s left is the shell.” He was exactly the same as before, and the change was heartbreaking. My son has been replaced by a quiet, withdrawn boy who is still traumatized by the experience and whose night terrors mean he is afraid to sleep and also afraid to eat. It was so unimaginable that any other family would have gone through something like this, so we knew we had to speak out about it,” the mother said.

She added, “If we could help prevent other people from going through the hell we’re going through, that would be some comfort. For us, all we really want is for that boy who went on vacation to come back to us.” Her son He was wheelchair-bound because of his frail health, and antibiotics failed to help.

A number of medical procedures were performed “including a lumbar puncture and two brain scans under general anesthesia.” He was discharged again but was unable to gain weight and was very weak. Regular blood tests are still being done to monitor his health.

The 36-year-old mother continued: “We all looked forward to this holiday so much, but now we will always remember it for all the wrong reasons because of Jackson’s illness. He got so sick, so quickly.” , we know this isn’t just your typical upset stomach. It was terrifying to see him in the hospital, to see what he was going through and to see him visibly weaken before our eyes. “

She added: “We knew we had to try to get him to hospital at home if possible and the flight home was a nightmare. He was visibly ill and in pain and was seen by passengers on the plane I was lying there crying.” No one would have believed that someone could get so sick from a stomach bug, or that the effects could be so severe. You feel so helpless when you can’t do anything for your child and I wish it was me and not him.”
