Britain’s most remote pub has been forced to cancel harry potter-Themed Halloween party this year, after employees received “undue grief” in response to the theme.

The pub, which can only be accessed on foot or by boat, said any disruption caused by the theme night was “unintentional”.

In a social media post, the pub said: “Hello everyone, the pub management team has decided to cancel this year’s Halloween Dinner Party. It was always meant to be a fun night, but unfortunately using Harry Potter as a theme has proven divisive, and has caused some of our staff undue grief as a result.
The pub said it had planned to hold a collection for a trans youth charity that night in line with its recent involvement in Knoydart Pride.
“We thought it was clear how we feel about everyone’s rights, especially given our recent support of the amazing Knoydart Pride festival – we had also planned a charity collection for trans youth on the night.
“Any disruption caused by our theme choice was certainly unintentional. We will continue to host children’s parties at We Bar from 5:00pm, but all other services including the restaurant will remain as normal on the day.
“Finally we would just like to reiterate that the pub cares about everyone in our community, and we would ask people to be kind and respectful to each other and our staff. If anyone has any concerns please reach out to the management committee directly through the appropriate formal channels. Cheers!”
The community-owned pub is known as the UK mainland’s “most remote pub”, accessible only by an 18-mile walk or seven-mile sea crossing.
In 2022, the pub offered a free drink to walkers if they could get there for a short expedition.
On its website, the pub describes walking into the village as “challenging” with variable ground conditions.
“It is easy to get lost on the trails in inclement weather and mobile phone signal is also poor. Only those with sufficient mountain hiking experience should enter.”
