In less than a month, six people died at the same prison, prompting the watchdog to issue an urgent warning.

Following initial inquiries, Mr Arthur said he now believed at least four of the deaths at HMP Parc, Bridgend, were “drug-related”.
He said the deaths were “probably” related to the spice and mixed with people from another family. drug.
He said: “A national public health warning has been issued for this particular drug, whose name has yet to be determined but we believe at least two of the deceased persons at HMP Parc took this substance.”
“So it’s likely that the deaths were all related to spices.”
The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman urged any prisoner in possession of spice to “dispose of it immediately”.
“This is a dangerous drug and we don’t want to see any more unnecessary deaths,” Mr Arthur added.
“Friends, family, next of kin and prison staff – please share this information as widely and as quickly as possible”.
Opened in 1997, HMP Parc is a Category B male private prison and young offenders’ institution.

Sky News understands the ombudsman received reports of 20 deaths at HMP Parc between January 1, 2022 and March 20, 2024.
Six of the cases were reported to the ombudsman in the past three weeks.
