Sao Paulo:
Seven people were killed when a small plane they were traveling in crashed in Brazil’s southeastern state of Minas Gerais on Sunday, authorities said.
Firefighters told AFP the single-engine plane apparently broke up in mid-air after leaving Campinas in neighboring Sao Paulo state and crashed into the mining town of Isla at around 10:30 am (1330 GMT). Tapeva crashes.
Firefighters “discovered seven victims on the aircraft,” the department said in an updated statement. It was earlier announced that three bodies had been found.
Photos taken by locals showing the wreckage shortly after the plane crashed into a hillside covered with grass and trees were circulated on social networks and Brazilian media.
