Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown is currently under police protection, when he and his family were threatened, the Peel Regional Police confirmed on Tuesday.

“The reality is that we have received and are investigating a threat that was made not only against the mayor but also against his family,” he said.
“Due to the nature of that danger, we realized that it was prudent to complement it with police protection until that danger was properly investigated.”
Milinovich will not further state who can be behind the dangers or whom they can be connected to, saying that the information can compromise on their ongoing investigation.
He confirmed that the threats came from within Canada.
Meanwhile, Brown said that he felt confident with the Peel police and looking at his back and keeping a close watch on his family.
He said, “I have great confidence in Peel police, I feel safe because we have a great police force in the Peel area,” he said.
“This is not the first time I have received the risk of death, I did it many years ago. I am sure it would not be final and it would definitely not change my vision,” Brown swore. “I want my family to be safe and I am confident that they are, but it will not change my vision to be vocal about public safety and to do my work accordingly.”
