“Bowling to these legends feels normal”: PBKS spinner Harpreet Brar

By | Published | No Comments

Punjab Kings left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar talked about the areas he tries to target while bowling against some of the best batsmen of the tournament in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. After saves from CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane, PBKS bowler Harpreet bowled the ninth over in the powerplay and changed the course of the game in two balls. He sent Rahane back to the dressing room in the ninth over and on the next ball he trapped in-form batsman Shivam Dubey right in front of the stumps. Rahul Chahar supported the CSK batsmen at the other end by making them work hard for every run.

Harpreet was named man of the match for his game-changing spell, which opened the floodgates and laid the foundation for Punjab’s victory.

“It was a good wicket to bowl on and even Rahul bowled really well. I have been playing for 6 years, so my confidence is quite high. Now it feels normal to bowl to these legends of the game Yes, I just bowl as per my strength.” To be honest, I don’t think about the wicket, my aim is just to bowl a lot of dot balls and dot balls make wickets, when there is spin in the wicket, the confidence of the bowlers increases and it helps a bit. Harpreet said after the game.

Both the spinners together produced an impressive spell of 4/33 in 8 overs. Overall, Harpreet has six wickets in 10 matches at an economy of 7.21.

Harpreet’s efforts played a major role as PBKS secured their fifth win in the IPL against CSK at Chepauk. They moved level with five-time champions Mumbai Indians in terms of most wins against CSK in the cash-rich league at Chepauk.

Talking about the match, the vibrant yellow wave in the Chepauk stands had subsided after PBKS easily chased down 163 runs with two overs to spare.

Stand-in captain Sam Curran’s decision to put CSK into bat proved to be ideal as the dew factor became a hindrance for the CSK bowlers in the second half of the match.

Ruturaj Gaikwad led from the front and scored 62 off 48 balls and MS Dhoni provided the finishing touches in the final overs to take CSK to an unexpected score of 162/7.

In reply, PBKS batsmen didn’t have to break a sweat in chasing 163 runs. Jonny Bairstow and Riley Rossouw put the momentum completely in their favor with a partnership of 64 runs.

Curran and Shashank Singh put the finishing touches to give PBKS a 7-wicket win.
